Buying eyewear online is easy when you know what to look for. This guide walks you through everything — from reading the numbers on a frame to finding the shape that flatters your face.
Every frame has three key measurements printed on the inside of the temple arm, written like this: 52 □ 18 – 140
| Measurement | What It Means | Where to Look |
|---|---|---|
| Lens Width | The horizontal width of one lens, in mm. A smaller number means a narrower lens. | First number (e.g., 52) |
| Bridge | The distance between the two lenses across the nose. A wider bridge suits a broader nose. | Second number (e.g., 18) |
| Temple Length | The length of the arm from hinge to tip. Most adults fit 135–145 mm. | Third number (e.g., 140) |
| Frame Width | The total width of the frame front. Should roughly match the width of your face for a balanced fit. | Listed in product details |
| Lens Height | The vertical height of the lens. Important for progressive/bifocal lenses — taller lenses give more reading area. | Listed in product details |
The size label on each product (e.g., "size 55") refers to the lens width. Here's a general guide:
If you currently own a pair of glasses that fits well, check the numbers on the inside of the arm and use them as your reference.
Your PD is the distance in millimetres between the centres of your pupils. It ensures your lenses are ground and centred correctly for your eyes.
Most adults have a PD between 58 and 68 mm. Each product listing shows a PD Range — choose a frame whose range includes your measurement for the best optical result. Your optician can also measure your PD precisely.
Each frame lists a Prescription Range (e.g., –6.00 to +4.00). This is the diopter range the frame can comfortably accommodate.
The right frame shape can balance and complement your natural features. Find your face shape below:
Soft, curved features with similar width and length. Angular frames — like Square or Rectangular styles — add definition and make the face appear longer and slimmer.
Strong jaw and broad forehead with similar width and length. Round or oval frames soften the angles and add contrast to sharp features.
Balanced proportions, slightly wider at the cheekbones. The most versatile face shape — almost any frame works. Try bold styles like Pilot or Cat-Eye to make a statement.
Wider forehead tapering to a narrow chin. Bottom-heavy or rimless frames draw attention downward and balance the forehead. Avoid top-heavy or decorative brow-line frames.
Narrow forehead and jaw with wide cheekbones. Cat-Eye or oval frames highlight the cheekbones and soften the overall look.
Longer than it is wide, with a straight cheek line. Oversized or deep frames add width and break up the length. Pilot and round styles work especially well.
Comfort over long wear depends on material and weight:
Each product listing shows the frame weight in grams so you can compare before you buy.
